Abdomen (Gaster): Black Superfine Dubbing

Hackle: Black Rooster Hackle

Thorax: Black Superfine Dubbing

Tying The Ant

Tying The Ant Step 1 of 5

Start the thread at the midpoint on the shank and make a thread base back to the bend. Dub an elongated oval shaped ball for the rear of the ant, being careful to keep this on the back end of the hook.

Tying The Ant Step 2 of 5

Tie in a black rooster hackle just on front of the rear segment.

Tying The Ant Step 3 of 5

Wrap the hackle about three or four turns and tie off. Clip the excess hackle.

Tying The Ant Step 4 of 5

Make a thread base on the front end of the shank.

Tying The Ant Step 5 of 5

Build another smaller ball of dubbing just in front of the hackle. Whip finish and clip the thread.
