Fly Tying The Visadun Video:
Visadun Step-by-Steps
Tying The Visa-Dun Step 1 of 12 Start the thread and wrap back to the bend. Build a small ball of thread at the bend of the hook.
Tying The Visa-Dun Step 2 of 12 Tie in a dozen hackle fibers in front of the thread ball and wrap back over them so they splay out against the ball. Trim the excess.
Tying The Visa-Dun Step 3 of 12 Bring the thread forward to the 60% point and tie in a clump of poly yarn. Taper the back end of the yarn and wrap over the butt ends.
Tying The Visa-Dun Step 4 of 12 Lift the poly up and wrap a thread dam against its base to prop it upright.
Tying The Visa-Dun Step 5 of 12 Tie in a rooster hackle feather at the base of the wing. Be sure to leave some bare stem beyond the tie in point.
Tying The Visa-Dun Step 6 of 12 Dub the abdomen from the bend up to the midpoint on the shank and lay the hackle feather back along the shank.
Tying The Visa-Dun Step 7 of 12 Continue dubbing forward over the hackle stem up to and past the base of the wing, but stop short of the eye.
Tying The Visa-Dun Step 8 of 12 Place a drop of vinyl cement at the base of the wing so it soaks into the base of the wing and the dubbing at the front of the hook around the wing.
Tying The Visa-Dun Step 9 of 12 Palmer the hackle forward over the thorax to the front and tie it off. Trim the excess feather flush.
Tying The Visa-Dun Step 10 of 12 Dub the head of the fly with a bit more dubbing to finish the fly. Whip finish and clip the thread.
Tying The Visa-Dun Step 11 of 12 Trim the hackle across the bottom of the fly so it is even with the hook point.
