The biggest problem with Yeti’s new LoadOut GoBox ($250, yeti.com ) is that I’m gonna need three of them. Or maybe four. The indestructible, waterproof cargo box is meant as a tackle organizer, but I instantly saw it as a portable fly-tying carryall. All my necks and saddles will go into the removable, zippered “Pack Attic” secured inside the lid of the box. My Dyna-King vise will sit neatly on the bottom, and the built-in divider will keep the big stuff like bucktails, hare masks, fox tails, and Zonker strips separated from smaller Ziploc baggies of dubbing and short feathers like turkey flats, marabou, and mallard flank feathers. And in the removable caddy—which has three compartments and a carry handle—I’ll store all my thread, fly-tying tools, and glue and cement.
Of course, there needs to be a drift boat GoBox filled with trout gear, and another version for smallmouth fishing on the Susquehanna. Right now my GoBox is pimped out for saltwater flats fishing with extra fly lines in the Pack Attic. I’ve got reels on one side of the divider, and my camera and lenses on the other. In the caddy, I’ve got sunscreen, gloves, pliers, sunglasses, and tippet material.
The GoBox is a perfect camera solution since it’s airtight and submersible. I’d imagine that if you’re a serious photographer you could easily fill this 20 x 15 x 12 box with an extra body, lenses,and an underwater housing.
In fact, just about anyone who enjoys the outdoors—hunting, climbing, mountain biking, paddling—will find that the Yeti LoadOut GoBox makes it easier to be organized and ready to start the next adventure with as little prep time as possible. Leave this box in the garage, your shed, or better yet in the boat, in the back of your truck, or at the cabin so you’re ready to start fishing whenever the opportunity arises.
