Float Beer: Sweetwater Brewing Company's Lager

Easy-drinkin' refreshment with a low ABV.

Float Beer: Sweetwater Brewing Company's Lager

IBUs: 20 | ABV: 4.5%

I don’t think I’d be out line to suggest that some fly anglers enjoy beer, both on the water and at cocktail hour. But some beers, such as ever-popular India Pale Ales, can leave you a little more muddled that you’d planned, which can put your fishing day (or tomorrow’s) in jeopardy.

So out West, we have what we call “float beers” (also known as a “river beer” in some places). A float beer is not overwhelming taste-wise and has a low alcohol by volume (ABV). This prevents both your mind and body from swimming so you can focus on fishing, while enjoying all-day refreshment.

Meet the latest of these important brews: Sweetwater Brewing Company’s Lager.

Not nearly as sharp as some lagers, these straightforward suds allow for effortless all-day imbibing. It’s crisp, smooth, and fresh with spicy and floral hop notes.

You can sip on the Lager all day while casting from the bow of a drift boat, or have a couple at the bar after fishing while getting home in one piece. Its 4.5-percent ABV provides an appropriate level of sobriety and safety.

And you can take pride in drinking beer from a brewery that supports trout and conservation.
