MDTA Bay Bridge Update for Commercial Vehicles

November 5, 2019, weather permitting, two lanes closure will be in effect at westbound Bay Bridge (US 50/US 301) between 11 AM and 1:30 PM. During this time, no trucks 10 ft or more in width are allowed to cross the Westbound Bay Bridge. Additional weekday double lane closure between 10 AM and 2 PM Monday to Friday will be implemented after November 5, 2019 as permitting by weather and traffic. Effective immediately, the westbound Bay Bridge (US 50) permit load escort waiting area is relocated (permanently) to the right shoulder just west Exit 39A. Please follow the signing along westbound US 50. click here

BAY Bridge- PERMIT LOAD RESTRICTIONS

Starting October 3, 2019, NO PERMITTED TRUCK WILL BE ALLOWED to cross the Bay Bridge (eastbound and westbound) on Thursday and Friday between 12 noon and 10 PM until further notice. In addition, during this time period, when two-way operation is implemented for westbound span, NO TRUCKS WILL BE ALLOWED traveling westbound across the Bay Bridge.

Bay Bridge Rehabilitation Project

BAY BRIDGE DECK REHABILITATIONPROJECT-Weather permitting, the rightmost lane (Lane 1) on Westbound Bay Bridge (US 50/301) will be closed starting on September 30, 2019 as part of the deck rehabilitation project.Lane 1 will remain closed 24/7 until Spring of 2020. During this time, nightly full Westbound Bay Bridge closure with two-way traffic on Eastbound Bay Bridge is in effect (weather permitting). It is recommended that commercial vehicles should avoid crossing the Bay Bridge and stay on I-95. When traveling to the Bay Bridge, drivers should expect major delay and plan accordingly. Height Surveys

With the increase in bridge strikes we have been seeing lately, all permit applications that involve an over height dimension of 14” 6” (fourteen feet - six inches) or higher will require a height clearance route survey certification as part of the permit application. Please include the application number when you fax (800-945-3416) the survey to our office.
