The Litter-Robot senses when your cat enters and exits the globe, which triggers the countdown timer and cleaning cycle. Kittens and small cats that weigh less than 2.3 kg may not be heavy enough to trigger the cat sensor. Therefore, kittens and small cats that weigh less than 2.3 kg can use the Litter-Robot, but not in automatic mode. Until they weigh enough, we recommend using your Litter-Robot in "semi-automatic" mode to keep your cat safe and relieve you from litter box scooping. For "semi-automatic" mode, leave the Litter-Robot switched off or unplugged. When you see your cat has used it, wait about 7 minutes for the waste to clump, then turn it on/plug it in. The Litter-Robot will automatically perform a clean cycle (which takes about 2 ½ minutes). Afterward, turn it off/unplug it again. Continue this supervised, semi-automatic mode until your kittens have gained sufficient weight to activate the cat sensor.

No, the Litter-Robot does not have a weight limit. With entryway dimensions of 39.4 cm H x 26 cm W and interior globe dimensions of 38.1 cm-43.18 cm H (depending on litter level) x 50.8 cm W x 50.8 cm D, almost any domestic cat can fit comfortably inside the globe. However, your cat must weigh at least 2.3 kg to trigger the cat sensor.

No, the Litter-Robot will not eliminate all litter box odours. However, because waste is promptly removed and contained in the base, typical litter box odour will be reduced significantly. Additionally, a large carbon filter located in the front of the waste drawer absorbs odours and moisture to discourage mold growth (a major culprit of that telltale litter box smell). This is why the Litter-Robot is a great choice for multiple-cat households. The amount of odour control the Litter-Robot will provide depends on the amount of odour created—by how many cats use it, what type of litter you use, and your cats' diets, among other things. Of course, the more often you empty the waste drawer, the less opportunity there is for odour to escape. It is also worth noting that scented litters are generally not as effective at absorbing odours as a high-quality unscented litter.

Yes, you can use any bag that fits in the waste drawer. However, please note that waste level readings may be inaccurate when using a dark bag, especially when the drawer is empty. As clumps start to collect in the drawer, the readings will become more accurate. For the most precise waste drawer readings and a seamless experience, we highly recommend using Litter-Robot Waste Liners.

The Whisker app is compatible with Apple mobile devices with iOS 13.0 or greater and Android devices 8.0 or greater. Both the iOS app and the Android app are available to download.

Yes. You can onboard multiple WiFi-enabled Litter-Robot units to the same app. If others in your household want to use the app, they can simply download the app to their device and log in with the same account.

Our robots require a 2.4 GHz WiFi signal and IPv4 addressing (5 GHz band and IPv6 are not supported). Our robots are unable to connect to shared networks (apartment complexes, college dorms, etc.).

Getting started with Litter-Robot 3

For each cycle, the tracker increments the Scoops Saved count by one, estimating the total number of scoops you’ve avoided. The count may vary with the occasional cycle that does not scoop litter or cycles that clean up multiple cat bathroom visits, but on average, each cycle represents one scoop saved!

If your scoops saved doesn’t look right you can reset it back to zero by navigating to your robot settings screen and clicking the option to reset your scoops saved. Please note resetting your scoops saved cannot be reversed!
