Stone Cold Steve Austin is one of the most famous wrestlers, but he has also had some famous marriages.

Before becoming the face of WWE's Attitude Era in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Austin was in the wrestling promotion WCW and married to his high school sweetheart Kathryn Burrhus. The couple split in 1992 and Austin married his in-ring manager/fellow professional wrestler Lady Blossom (born Jeannie Clark) later that year. She is famously credited for coming up with the Stone Cold moniker, as Austin said on Larry King Now in 2013.

“I watched this special on a serial killer, Richard Kuklinski. I came up with the concept of just a cold-blooded, ruthless heel, because you know, he was known as the iceman,” Austin told Larry King. “My wife [Lady Blossom] made me a cup of hot tea ... she said ‘Drink your tea before it gets stone cold. That’s your name. Stone Cold Steve Austin,’ so that’s how that name was born.”

After Austin and Blossom divorced, he married wrestler/manager Debra Marshall in 2000. He filed for divorce in 2002 and later met his wife Kristin, whom he wed in 2009 and has remained married to for over a decade.

In one of his relationships, the wrestler was accused of domestic violence. In 2002, Austin was sentenced to a year's probation, a $1,000 fine and 80 hours of community service after pleading no contest to a domestic violence claim from Marshall.

Here’s everything to know about Stone Cold Steve Austin’s marriage history.

Kathryn Burrhus

According to Austin's 2001 memoir, The Stone Cold Truth, when he was a freshman at Edna High School, he met his future wife Kathryn Burrhus, who was then a junior. Austin was smitten with her but didn’t believe he had a chance as he was two years younger, until he came up with a plan to get to know her better.

“She was just a super smart person. I immediately fell in love with her. She was pretty ... and I was thinking, 'God, how am I going to meet his girl?' ” Austin wrote, before recalling how he made the initial connection.

“This girl played tennis, and the tennis coach, who I knew from playing sports and just goofing around and being friendly, asked me and my friend, Michael Rab, to come out and play tennis,” Austin continued. “Just by playing tennis and being around the tennis courts, I got a chance to meet Kathy.”

Austin and Burrhus got to know each other and they began dating that year. He then attended Wharton Junior College in Texas where he played football while she got her degree at Southwest Texas University.

Austin received a full football scholarship to North Texas upon Burrhus’ graduation as the two moved in together. According to Austin, the pair had a good relationship and marriage for 10 years, before his wrestling career caused a rift and the couple divorced in 1992.

“We were good for 10 years. Then I got this wrestling bug, and Kathy was not a wrestling fan. That was the beginning of the end for us,” Austin wrote in The Stone Cold Truth. “Overall, it seems, the wrestling business has allowed me more success in the ring than in romance.”

Austin and his second wife, wrestler Lady Blossom, grew their connection when her then-boyfriend Chris Adams had the idea for him and Austin to have a fictional feud.

“Chris goes ‘You know I’ve got this student. His name’s Steve Williams and I think this guy might have potential and I really want to try this ex-wife angle,’ ” Blossom told Wrestling Inc. in 2016. “Steve and I were quite good friends when we were doing the angle and he went off to Nashville and he did a few spot shows and then obviously we started dating.”

Blossom continued being Austin’s valet/manager as they joined WCW together in 1991. She even helped Austin secure the WCW World Television Championship when she scratched his opponent Bobby Eaton’s eyes while the referee was down.

Blossom soon became pregnant with her and Austin’s first child together, the couple married in 1992 and their daughter Stephanie was born that year. Austin and Blossom welcomed their second daughter, Cassidy, in 1996. He also adopted her daughter, Jade, from her relationship with Adams.

The couple divorced in 1999.

Debra Marshall

Debra Marshall wasn’t so impressed by Austin when she first met him. Like her future husband, she was a professional wrestler and manager who was known as Queen Debra during her three years in WCW from 1995-1997 and as Debra during her four-year tenure with WWE from 1998-2002.

“I remember at a few shows he kind of introduced himself and I thought he was sort of snobby so I was like ‘Oh, nice to meet you,’ and then I was like ‘I’m not gonna talk to him because he’s so full of himself,” Debra told RF Video in 2021. “A year into me working there, he was giving Christian a hug and I remembered I walked by and I was like ‘Oh, were you going to give me one too?’ and he hugged me and then we started flirting. We had good chemistry.”

In September 1999, Marshall and Austin married and she started getting involved in his storylines.

Onstage, she was forced to manage Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson during his infamous rivalry with Austin and was involved in the husband-wife feud against then-fellow real-life wrestling couple Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

Austin filed for divorce in 2002, after Marshall accused him of hitting her. He was sentenced to a year's probation, a $1,000 fine and 80 hours of community service after pleading no contest to a domestic violence charge.

Kristin Austin

Austin married his wife Kristin in 2009. One of her first public appearances came at his movie premiere for The Expendables and she has also made numerous appearances on Austin’s podcast The Steve Austin Show.

On the podcast, the couple shared all the things they agree on, with one glaring incompatibility.

“When I first started living with Kristin, She goes, ‘We ain’t got AC ... And I’m like, ‘Man, that’s a red flag,’ ” Austin said while interviewing Kristin on The Steve Austin Show. “First of all, I love the chick. Good looking. We have a lot of chemistry together. We both like football and a lot of other stuff and vodka. So, this is a match made in heaven. But the air conditioning thing don’t jive with me.”

Now, the couple have been married for over 15 years. In a 2024 profile for The Athletic about his ventures into dune buggy racing prior to his 60th birthday, Austin provided an inside look at life for him and Krsitin on their ranch, saying they take care of chickens and horses, watch a little TV each night and always go to bed by 10 p.m.
